If an ordinary robot vacuum cleaner is not enough to clean a large apartment or country house, you should take a closer look at the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete. He is powerful, knows how to wash wipes with hot water, clean corners from dirt and even communicate with pets. We tell you what else the gadget is capable of.

Dreame X40 Ultra

Dreame X40 Ultra Luxury equipment

The very name of the model indicates an impressive configuration. And it really did not disappoint. The large box contains a robot, a docking station, a power adapter, a silicone tarbrush, holders with two main and 12 replaceable wipes, a liter bottle of detergent, as well as a set of several brushes, HEPA filters and garbage bags. It’s just that your eyes run wild – so much needs to be supplied with the flagship device.

How it looks and works

The robot’s body is round, and the main navigation body is installed on top – a lidar with a spring-loaded cover. Also, at the top there is a place for three control buttons with “moon” lighting. Under the lid there is a dust container with a HEPA-based filtration system. The model also has a built-in water tank and a camera necessary for remote monitoring of the house and recognition of objects on the floor.

At the bottom of the robot there are four fall protection sensors, as well as a carpet sensor. The device performs wet cleaning using two rotating microfiber mops, which are attached to the body with magnets. It’s not easy: Dreame’s patented Mop Extend pop-up mop system allows you to clean hard-to-reach areas such as baseboards or the area around furniture. We have already seen this when we tested the L10s Pro Ultra model.

There is only one side brush – three-ray. It is not easy: if necessary, it leaves the body to sweep away garbage in corners and narrow areas. The solution is unusual, but effective, as further testing has shown. In normal cleaning mode, the side brush sweeps debris onto the central silicone brush, and from there it gets inside a small container. Later, the debris automatically enters the bag at the self-cleaning station. Note that napkins and brushes themselves rise to a height of up to 10.5 mm when driving on carpets, dry cleaning and when returning to the station.

The docking station is large, so it will not be possible to place the vacuum cleaner in a cramped nook. But such gadgets are usually bought for large apartments and cottages. The station is multifunctional – it provides not only cleaning the bag, moistening and washing mops, but also automatic mixing of detergent into the water.

The bag and detergent reservoir are hidden under a large golden plate. But containers for clean and dirty water can be found by simply opening the lid at the top of the station.

The Dreame X40 Ultra Complete has a maximum suction power supported by the brand’s devices – 12,000 Pa. At the same time, the intensity of work can be adjusted not only with the help of an application, but also entrusting the matter to automation.

Control and navigation

Fine-tuning the operation of the vacuum cleaner is carried out using the Dreamehome mobile application, available for iOS and Android. The program is convenient, correctly translated and offers many functions. In it, you can select modes, create a cleaning schedule and sequence of actions, change the language and volume of the voiceover, set the frequency of mop flushing, find out about the battery charge and much more. In addition to the proprietary application, the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete also supports interaction with voice assistants such as Alice, Marusya and Apple Siri. The gadget can be sent for cleaning by giving an order from the sofa.

Lidar and a set of built-in sensors are responsible for indoor navigation and detailed mapping. From an RGB camera, a five-channel color recognition system, and the OmniDirt intelligent dirt detection system, it’s a complete set of solutions to help combat dust. The robot identifies more than 120 types of objects in the house, such as slippers, cables or children’s toys.

Dreame X40 Ultra Complete builds a map of the apartment, where each room is assigned a certain type (for example, living room or kitchen). Based on this, the vacuum cleaner uses cleaning strategies with different levels of suction power for each room. Also in Dreamehome you can note if you have pets. The vacuum cleaner will clean, bypassing the food bowls. Having determined how dirty the water is after washing the mop, the device is able to repeat the washing. Finally, it is worth noting an interesting option: remote tracking mode via smartphone. By running it, you can even use a vacuum cleaner to control the behavior of your beloved pet or assess the condition of your home. Just in case.

Easy to maintain and large battery

After cleaning, the robot independently goes to the station to charge the battery, empty the garbage can and refill with clean water. The docking station washes mops in hot water (with a temperature of up to 70°) in special baths, and then they are dried with streams of warm air. But that’s not all: the bottom of the mop stand was equipped with scrapers. The vacuum cleaner is also able to clean the stand – such automation saves a person from interference for a long time.

The dust container has a capacity of 300 ml, which is a common value for cleaning robots. And in the docking station, there was a place for a 3.2-liter garbage bag – the manufacturer claims that it allows you to store dust for up to 75 days. For the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete, you can also purchase an additional kit for automatically draining dirty water into the sewer and topping up clean water. Although this increases the already considerable cost, it guarantees even less hassle in maintenance.

The battery capacity in the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete is 6400 mAh. This is more than models like the L10s Pro Ultra, but the operating time of the novelty is shorter – up to 180 minutes on a single charge. It is not surprising, because it is more powerful. But no problems with autonomy could be identified during testing: thanks to an advanced navigation system and well-configured sensors, the robot does not slow down and does not waste time. To clean a two-room apartment, depending on the scenario, the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete spent from 28 to 50 minutes.

A few personal impressions

It is difficult to surprise the author of the article with the quality of cleaning of robot vacuum cleaners, besides, he himself uses a far from budget model. After numerous cleanings, it comes to the understanding that it is difficult for such gadgets to cope with places along the baseboards or carefully go around the cable on the floor. Small areas of the floor missed during wet cleaning are a problem even for expensive models. A classic robot vacuum cleaner is great for daily cleanliness, but does not eliminate the need to take up a mop at least occasionally. But the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete made us seriously think – is it time to update home appliances?

The vacuum cleaner easily copes with recognizing objects on the floor, both in good lighting and in the dark. For the latter scenario, the camera is illuminated – however, the robot sometimes turns it on during the day to better distinguish obstacles in the way.

The quality of cleaning in the dry cleaning mode was pleasantly surprising – it was not possible to find the remnants of dust, crumbs or hair on the floor, all the garbage was carefully collected in a dust container. The kitchen is inevitably littered with little things, but the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete has successfully cleaned every corner with a pull-out brush. He also coped with carpets without problems – the pile of medium height did not become an obstacle for the robot, as well as cleaning the black rug in the hallway, which budget vacuum cleaners were often “afraid of”.

Wet cleaning in the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete is implemented perfectly: dried stains from spilled coffee disappeared without a trace from the surface of the laminate. True, this did not happen the first time, but even with ordinary cleaning, they would have to be scrubbed for some time. Not every robot vacuum cleaner is capable of this.

The most interesting mode of operation, in the author’s opinion, is combined, when the robot separately removes hard surfaces and carpets, after throwing napkins on the docking stations. This completely eliminates the contact of wet “rags” with the pile. You don’t have to worry that during wet cleaning, the gadget will suddenly forget to lift the mop.

The Dreamehome app also allows you to enable enhanced cleaning of carpet surfaces and flexibly adjust the intensity of mop wetting. Convenient options that will definitely not be superfluous.

Results

Since the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete is an expensive vacuum cleaner, it should be evaluated from a “premium” position. And the gadget is impressive: it is almost a perfect cleaning robot, which is difficult to find any flaws.

The new Dreame can be called the best vacuum cleaner on the market, at least at the time of review. However, in the company’s lineup, it is not difficult to find excellent devices with a more reasonable cost – Dreame L10 Ultra and its analogues do an excellent job of cleaning indoors, and are cheaper. The X40 Ultra Complete should be taken by those who are not ready to make at least some compromises in cleaning and are used to paying for maximum quality.
