reMarkable Paper Pro has introduced the reMarkarble 2 tablet, which is positioned as an alternative to a notepad for taking handwritten notes. The gadget is only 5.1 mm thick and has an E-Ink color display, and the letter on the screen of the gadget resembles a letter on ordinary paper. The company spoke about other features of the novelty.

ReMarkarble 2 is equipped with an 11.8-inch E-Ink Gallery 3 color display with a resolution of 2160×1620 pixels, customizable backlighting and stylus support. When using handwriting, you can choose from nine colors of the “pen”, while they can be layered on top of each other, as in real writing on paper. According to the manufacturer, the input delay from the stylus is only 12 ms.

The hardware platform of the gadget includes an unnamed quad-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz, as well as 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. A battery with a capacity of 5030 mAh (autonomy up to 14 days) is responsible for the autonomy of the device. Sync notes with other devices using Wi-Fi and a USB Type-C port.

To protect data, there is an automatic encryption function and password protection for files. You can access your notes from other devices, but this service is available on a subscription basis ($2.99 per month or $29.90 per year). As an alternative to the stylus, you can use the Folio keyboard case for typing.

The colors aren’t electric but muted, kind of like colored pencils rather than a set of vibrant pens or highlighters. The shades range from classic primary red, blue, and yellow to magenta and cyan. You can choose gray or white too, and the latter only shows up if you’re writing on top of another color. There are seven pen styles to choose from, similar to the ReMarkable 2, all of which have the same range of six colors and three neutrals, while the highlighter and new shader have slightly different color options.

The active part of the stylus means this pen has better accuracy and latency. The writing experience feels like a fine-tipped Sharpie but more satisfying. It has a sharper feel than writing with the ReMarkable 2, and while both have minimal input lag, writing on the Paper Pro does feel slightly quicker and more responsive. You can also write at more of a tilted angle thanks to the more pointed end of the new Marker. You get six pen tips, whichever stylus you choose. The only downside is that if you have a Marker or Marker Plus and are coming from the ReMarkable 2, you can’t use them on the Paper Pro.
