OPPO X8 Pro Find X8 series has made its debut in the global market. The Pro version is the brand’s pre-top offering, as the X8 Ultra will be released later. Nevertheless, the novelty received four advanced cameras, an advanced MediaTek chipset and a large battery. Let’s summarize the reviews and tests of the Western press.
OPPO X8 Pro Design, display, autonomy
Externally, the gadget stands out with an impressive block of cameras, which is usual for the line, Tech Advisor noted. Compared to the previous model, it has become slightly more compact and 40% thinner. Gorilla Glass 7i is used on the front and back, and the frames are aluminum. Thanks to the rounded edges, everything fits comfortably in the hand. A notable bonus is IP69 protection against moisture, which allows you to withstand jets under pressure. The kit includes a cable, an 80-watt power adapter and a transparent case.
There is an additional “button” to control the camera. Unlike its counterpart in the iPhone 16, it does not press but recognizes touch gestures and the degree of effort. It is convenient to launch the app, smoothly adjust the zoom and release the shutter. There is also an Alert Slider – a physical switch for sound modes. The finger scanner here is optical and accurate, although it is located a little low. The display is represented by a 6.78-inch AMOLED matrix with LTPO support (1-120 Hz) and a resolution of 2780×1264 (450 ppi). To protect your eyes, the high frequency of PWM (2160 Hz), which is active at brightness below 70 nits, comes in handy. For the values above, DC Dimming is used.
In terms of brightness, OPPO does not strive for leading numbers. But 897 nits in manual mode and 1333 nits with auto-adjustment, measured by journalists, are quite enough in sunny weather. The peak in local areas of HDR content can reach 4500 nits. The Find X8 Pro is equipped with a 5910 mAh battery with support for wired fast charging (80 W) and wireless (50 W). By wire, 100% is achieved in 53 minutes. Like many flagships with silicon-carbon batteries, the device showed an excellent result in the GSMArena autonomy test – 15 hours 19 minutes. This is relevant for a mixed operation scenario. Separately, the phone lasted 10.5 hours in games, and almost 18 hours in video playback.
OPPO X8 Pro Performance and photo capabilities
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor is paired with 12/16 GB of RAM. The storage capacity is 256, 512 or 1024 GB. The platform is flagship and powerful, albeit slightly short of the Snapdragon 8 Elite in benchmarks. The disadvantage for gamers is the soft limitation of the frame rate in games to 60 fps. In throttling tests, the solution holds about 60% of the maximum after an hour, gradually decreasing the frequencies. This is a common trend among top models. In general, the filling provides high speed.
- AnTuTu — 2 701 287;
- Geekbench 6 — 2917 (single-core), 8819 (multi-core);
- 3DMark Wild Life Extreme (2160p) — 6479.
Android 15 with ColorOS 15 firmware is pre-installed as the OS. Decent support periods have been announced – 6 years of security patches and five numbered updates of the system. The rear module of the cameras contains four sensors: the main Sony LYT-808 (50 MP, OIS), the Samsung JN5 ultrawide (50 MP), the LYT-600 telephoto (50 MP, 3x zoom) and the second IMX 858 telephoto (50 MP, 6x zoom). The selfie sensor is IMX 615 (32 MP). On all cameras, including the front camera, the maximum resolution of the videos is 4K at a frame rate of 60 fps.
The quality of daytime images was praised by reviewers: there are a lot of details, the dynamic range is high, and there is enough saturation. However, the color rendition can be slightly green, which is especially noticeable in portraits. In this case, a warmer white balance would look more natural. Tom’s Guide noted that against the background of competitors, the OPPO X8 Pro likes to increase contrast and highlight shadows. Sometimes this is appropriate to achieve clarity in buildings. Although a more restrained treatment would look closer to reality.
Photos with a 3x zoom are pleasant, while the lens focuses only on a distance of 50 cm. With 6x zoom, the focus is closer (29 cm), but such shots lack sharpness, especially in brightly lit scenes. The ultra-wide works perfectly – the journalists assessed the detail and colors positively. The quality of the selfie, however, is not one of the trump cards of the flagship, since there is no autofocus. But there are no problems with the light balance. Night photography can rightfully be considered the strength of the OPPO X8 Pro camera: AI competently handles the display of shadows and highlights; details are rendered accurately.
