The new humidifier from HANZO is aimed at users with increased requirements for the microclimate in the house. It creates a comfortable atmosphere in rooms with an area of up to 90 m2, maintains a set level of humidity by itself, and rarely requires refilling with water. Let’s take a closer look at how practical and effective this humidifier is in real operation.
What does HANZO look like? Appearance, quality, equipment
The model has a minimalistic design: a rectangular white body, strongly rounded side corners, a flat panel on top with a spray turret in the center. On the front, there is a touch control panel with a large display showing the current humidity level and active operating modes. Neat, utilitarian. And if you want to add bright notes, you can turn on (or rather, not turn off) the interior lighting around the top panel, choosing a color to your liking or automatically changing shades.
The body is made of high-quality matte plastic that is resistant to scratches and dirt. Dimensions of the device: 267 x 264 x 657 mm. It is tall, but at the same time not too bulky in terms of footprint. The weight is 5 kg without water – a lot, but quite expected, given the volume of the tank. In the lower part, there are wheels, thanks to which the humidifier is easy to move around the room even with a full tank. This is convenient, because a fully filled device weighs about 25 kg.
The kit includes a sensible and well-translated manual, a 2-meter power cord, a brush for cleaning, and a remote control. The remote duplicates the main functions of the touch panel and allows you to adjust the humidifier without getting up from the sofa or bed.
HANZO Power, water treatment, options and settings
The HANZO Z6 Pro works on the ultrasonic principle, creating vibration with a frequency of 1.7 million oscillations per second. It breaks the water into tiny particles of 1-5 microns, which are effectively distributed throughout the room. Strictly speaking, such clouds of microdroplets should be called fog. However, in everyday life they are called steam, so let’s use a word that has become familiar.
The model has two large vaporizers at once, providing a capacity of up to 1000 ml / h. In this maximum mode, a 20-liter tank is enough for twenty hours without refueling. However, a medium or even minimal level of evaporation is sufficient to maintain a comfortable humidity. Our tests have shown that in these modes much less water is consumed. The humidifier tank is equipped with a vertical transparent insert and internal lighting for visual control of the liquid level. If you do not keep track and the water runs out, the device will turn off automatically.
To keep the air clean, the device purifies and disinfects water before evaporation. A UV lamp is installed inside, which destroys bacteria and viruses, prevents the appearance of unpleasant odors. And there is also a ceramic filter that helps soften the water and reduce the formation of white plaque. It is only necessary to take into account that the filter is not designed to purify tap water. Its task is to remove the remaining solid particles from boiled or filtered water.
Another interesting function is warm steam. This feature is especially relevant in winter. When it is turned on, the humidifier heats the water before spraying so that moisture does not cool the air in the room and evaporates more efficiently.
The operation of the HANZO Z6 Pro can be automated by time or by the level of humidity in the room. In the first case, you use a timer to set the duration of work: from 1 to 12 hours. In the second case, the humidifier measures the humidity and maintains it at the level that you indicated to it. More on this in the next section of the review.
How independent is he? Smart Features
Smart features are an important difference between the HANZO Z6 Pro and simpler models. Let’s start with the basic and most popular feature: maintaining the level of humidity you need in the house. A built-in sensor — a hygrostat — is responsible for it. It can be set to a target level of 45 to 95 percent. When this level is reached, the sensor automatically pauses the instrument. And it resumes humidification when the humidity decreases by 5%.
The model also received a Wi-Fi module and a mobile application. They allow you to connect the device to your home network and control it remotely via the Internet. In the instructions, it is recommended to use the Hanzo IQ Home utility. However, another software called Smart Life will also do.
The main features of the two programs are identical. They provide remote access to the functions and settings of the humidifier: vaporization intensity, humidity level, warm steam, UV purification, backlight. You can also monitor the level of humidity in the room, and even when you are outside the house.
The Smart Life application, in addition to all of the above, allows you to connect HANZO Z6 Pro to a Yandex smart home with Alice and control it with voice commands via a smartphone or Yandex Station. However, with your voice, you can only turn on, turn off or find out the status of the device. More options are available to those who already have a Yandex UD. Then the humidifier can be combined into common scenarios involving other gadgets in your smart home. For example, you can link the device on and off to the readings of the climate sensor in the back room, or to other events, or set the humidifier to work on a schedule.
How does it work? Practice tests
We tested the humidifier in an apartment with a total area of 65 sq. m, which is two-thirds of the maximum area for which the device is designed. The heating season was almost over, but even with the radiators working at full heat, the air in the room was dry. Humidity was kept at the level of 32-38 percent, that is, well below the comfortable level. Let’s see how the hero of our review coped with these initial conditions.
The humidifier was installed at the entrance to the kitchen, since it is closest to the center of the apartment. To monitor the efficiency of its operation, climate sensors were installed in the rooms – near the beds and, if possible, away from the device. First of all, we checked the water flow rate. At the minimum power of the L1, the humidifier spent 0.5 liters per hour of operation. At the average power of L2, about 0.75 liters were spent per hour, at the maximum L3 – about 1 liter.
The next test is how much the HANZO Z6 Pro is able to maintain a comfortable atmosphere in the house without manual intervention. We set the humidistat to 55%, turned on the humidifier to the minimum power and recorded the readings in the house during the day. The screenshots below illustrate the results.
Note that in the process of testing, the apartment lived its usual life: from time to time, the doors to the rooms were closed, the gaming PC was turned on for hot and loud battles, and the windows were periodically opened for ventilation. This is the reason for the fluctuations in humidity on the graphs. But we can see that even in the room furthest from the humidifier (screenshot on the right), the humidity remained in the comfort zone: 40-50 percent. To maintain humidity at +10% to the initial level, we needed less than six liters of water per day. A fully filled tank was enough for more than three days.
The humidifier works quietly. The declared noise level is less than 35 dB. In practice, this is about the same as turning on the air conditioner or even quieter. Noise becomes more audible when the device runs out of water (an empty tank amplifies the sound). But with an increase in power, the noise does not increase much and remains within comfortable limits. In general, the device is quite suitable for use at night. To do this, it has the Sleep Mode function: with the press of one button, the backlight and display are turned off, the device switches to the maintenance humidification mode.
Of course, we also tested the warm steam function. As our measurements have shown, in this mode, the water in the spray tank is heated to 45 degrees. Steam, accordingly, is a little cooler, but in terms of tactile sensations, the temperature of the sprayed moisture is noticeably higher than room temperature. It should be borne in mind that with such a preset, power consumption increases. In normal mode, the humidifier consumes from 55 watts at minimum power to 95 watts at maximum, and an additional 210 watts are required for heating.
A little fuss? Maintenance and care
Let’s start with the main thing: after a few days of operation, no white coating appeared on the surfaces in the apartment. Witnesses to this are a black hob and a black body of a vacuum cleaner standing nearby. A barely noticeable plaque was found only on the display of the humidifier itself. The secret of cleanliness is that we poured only boiled water into the tank. A similar result will be given by distilled, filtered through reverse osmosis or even bottled water. Just choose simply purified, without potassium, magnesium and other mineralization.
The large 20-liter tank turned out to be a really practical solution. In our test, in the humidity mode, it was necessary to pour water once every 3-4 days. With a different area of the house and/or different humidity, the result may differ. But in any case, it turns out to be much more convenient than daily refueling of small models.
The manufacturer recommends cleaning the tank and sprayer weekly so that bacteria do not multiply and scale is not deposited. Such scheduled cleanings are convenient to combine with every second refueling. And it coincides in regularity, and it is easy to take an empty tank to the bathroom, wash it with a soft cloth. The humidifier reservoir also needs to be washed from the inside. Please note that it contains fragile elements that require careful handling (in particular, the transparent cover of the UV lamp and the membranes of the atomizers). Be sure to read the instructions.
Results
The HANZO Z6 Pro ultrasonic humidifier is suitable for owners of spacious apartments and houses, lovers of indoor plants and everyone who cares about a healthy microclimate. This humidifier can independently control the humidity level in the room. But if necessary, it can be controlled not only from a touch panel or remote control, but also remotely through a mobile application and by voice, connecting it to a Yandex smart home with Alice.
As our tests have shown, even at low power, the device maintains a comfortable humidity in an apartment with an area of more than 60 square meters with central heating turned on. The water is cleaned with a ceramic filter and a UV lamp before spraying, and the low noise level of the device allows you to use it at night without any problems. It is necessary to refill the humidifier only once every few days – thanks to the large tank with a capacity of 20 liters. For those who are afraid of white plaque, we recommend using boiled, distilled or filtered water for moisturizing.
