Vertu, the luxury phone brand reportedly bought by an exiled Turkish businessman, has unveiled a new limited edition feature phone, the Signature Cobra. The new Vertu Signature Cobra Limited Edition has been launched at an exorbitant CNY 2.47 million (nearly Rs. 2.3 crores) and will be available online via a Chinese e-commerce platform.

The Vertu Signature Cobra will be available to buy after a down payment of the CNY 1,000 (roughly Rs. 10,000) after which interested users will have to pay the rest of the amount upfront. In a first, the Vertu feature phone will be delivered to consumers by a helicopter which doesn’t seem too surprising considering the price of the handset.

Vertu has confirmed that there will be only eight units of the new Signature Cobra feature phone to be made available across the world. GizChina reports that there will be only one unit which will be available in China. Unfortunately, there are no details about the feature phone.

The biggest highlight of the Vertu Signature Cobra feature phone is it has been designed by a France-based jewellery brand, Boucheron. Some of the other highlights of the new Vertu phone include the 439 rubies it has, fitted in a cobra design. As the name suggests, the phone features a cobra design around the front and the eyes pack 2 emerald stones. The new Vertu phone is also said to come with other gems. In terms of design, the new Vertu Signature Cobra closely Limited Edition follows design cues of the original Signature phone.

According to the description on the official website of the brand, the Signature V Cobra Limited Edition used technology Cuts and Inlays of French Royal Jewellery Gemstones of the Boucheron brand.

The body of a snake figurine placed on the front parts of the case, encrusted with 439 rubies, and her eyes were two emeralds. In addition, there are diamonds on the reptile’s head and in the center of its body on the 2.02 and 1.02 carats, respectively. There are also gemstone inserts between the rows of keys on the phone.

The Vertu SIGNATURE Cobra limited edition will be available in only 8 units of which just one will be sold in China. The cellphone — yes, because it’s not even “smart” — has been made by the French royal jewelry brand Boucheron and it’s based on the original Vertu SIGNATURE.

The phone integrates precisely cut gems and is created with a mosaic process. It’s body is crammed with 439 rubies which create the cobra shape, the eyes are instead composed of 2 emeralds.
