The HUAWEI WATCH D2 is known for its ability to measure blood pressure thanks to its inflatable cuff and built-in compressor. This is the second model with such functionality. The debut watch of the D series was released last year. Let’s figure out how the novelty differs from its predecessor in terms of design, specifications and functionality.
Smaller body, bigger screen
Externally, the fresh version is easily recognizable by a more rounded capsule and a squarer display, which fits more information horizontally. In addition, the screen has become a little larger: its diagonal is 1.82 inches instead of 1.64, as it was with the previous gadget. The pixel density has also increased – 347 ppi instead of 326. On the other hand, the body of the WATCH D2 is even slightly more compact than that of the debut version of the accessory. Another advantage is the rotary button. Due to it, it is more convenient to navigate through the menu and use the watch in general.
The strap of the current model has also changed: in the gold version of the HUAWEI WATCH D2 it is made of leather; in the black version it is made of fluoroelastomer. In addition, it has become more convenient: the cuff frame used to measure blood pressure has disappeared. Therefore, the inflatable part is practically not felt on the arm when deflated. The cuff and strap also became one. And now they do not need to be removed individually when changing the strap. For comparison: the first variation of the watch is available only in a black design, and the strap can be exclusively fluoroelastomeric.
Additional communication options
Both models display notifications received on the smartphone. If this message is, for example, from a messenger, you can reply to it with one of the pre-saved phrases. But the HUAWEI WATCH D2 also knows how to work as a headset for a phone – the built-in microphone and speaker come to the rescue. The novelty is able to receive a call and outputs it over the speakerphone. HUAWEI WATCH D can’t do this and only allow you to hang up the call.
More features for health and sports
Like the original accessory, the HUAWEI WATCH D2 can measure heart rate, blood oxygen, take an ECG, monitor sleep, skin temperature, stress, and track workouts. The new version supports over 80 training modes instead of 70. But there is no GPS here. If the WATCH D2 needs to track the user’s location, for example, during a running workout, it uses the GPS of a connected smartphone.
Perhaps the most notable feature added to the WATCH D2 is Daily Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM). This procedure allows you to get more information about the state of the cardiovascular system. It works like this: during the day, the watch reminds you to measure blood pressure at set intervals and performs the procedure using built-in sensors and an inflatable cuff in a strap. At night, they monitor blood pressure at the right intervals automatically, without disturbing the owner of the gadget with reminders. However, it is important to keep in mind that the watch is not certified in Russia as a medical device.
Battery life
Due to the abundance of sensors and features, the battery life of the new watch is slightly shorter than that of the previous model. According to the manufacturer, the first version of the accessory goes up to seven days without recharging, and according to user reviews, even more. The WATCH D2 has a claimed figure of six days. On the other hand, daily blood pressure monitoring (BMPM) is a rather energy-consuming procedure. When activated, the watch will live without an outlet for up to one day.
