Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared a new batch of rumors about the iPhone 17. According to him, only one model will receive a large amount of RAM and an advanced cooling system.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, only the iPhone 17 Pro Max will receive 12GB of RAM, and the “ultra-thin” iPhone 17, the base model, the firmware and the SE 4 modification will be equipped with 8GB of RAM. With this, Kuo confirmed the rumor about the disappearance of the Plus modification, the appearance of the iPhone 17 Slim and SE 4.
Ming-Chi Kuo is an analyst at TF International Securities, a financial services group in the Asia-Pacific region. He gathers intelligence from his contacts in Apple’s Asian supply chain, translating the information he gleans into research notes for clients.
His research notes often provide a solid look at Apple’s future plans and while he is not always correct, his predictions on future Apple products are accurate enough to make him one of the most reliable sources for Apple rumors. Kuo previously worked for KGI Securities, Concord Securities, and DigiTimes.
The insider added that the cooling system of the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be based on a vapor chamber and graphite substrates, and the rest of the models in the line will be equipped only with graphite elements. Kuo also said that the main advantage of the 17 Pro Max model may be the capabilities of artificial intelligence, and at the moment the Pro Max series accounts for almost 40% of the company’s smartphone shipments, which makes it the largest source of profit among all Apple devices.
