POCO smartphones are popular due to their balanced features and relatively affordable price. The new POCO X7 Pro, the global version of the Chinese Redmi Turbo 4, continues this tradition. We have collected all the information about the device from foreign reviews.

It resembles someone

The smartphone comes with a protective film glued to the screen, an opaque medium-quality silicone case, 90W charging with a USB Type-A port and a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable. The device is available in three colors: black and yellow, green and black. In the first option, the back cover is made of artificial leather, and the other two are made of plastic. The side frame is also plastic, although this does not cause a feeling of cheapness.

POCO X7 PRO

The screen of the POCO X7 Pro is flat, with thin bezels, including the bottom one, and is protected by tempered Gorilla Glass 7i. Interestingly, the more affordable POCO X7 uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is more durable. An optical fingerprint scanner is built into the display. It often works quickly and accurately and can also measure the pulse. However, the sensor is located too low – not everyone will be comfortable pressing it.

The manufacturer abandoned the massive camera unit and reduced the number of sensors, leaving only two. Because of this, the smartphone can be confused with the iPhone 16 from the back.

There is no headphone jack, but there are stereo speakers. They are moderately powerful, but the bottom is louder than the top, so the balance is not perfect. For watching videos and games, the quality is quite enough.

The smartphone has an infrared port for controlling household appliances and NFC for contactless payments. But there is no microSD slot – only the ability to install two SIM cards. The old USB Type-C port of the old USB 2.0 standard is used for charging, so no fast data transfer.

Not LTPO, but so good

The display of the POCO X7 Pro is equipped with a 6.67-inch flat OLED matrix. This is a high-quality panel with a resolution of 2712×1220 pixels, 12-bit color depth and support for Dolby Vision’s high dynamic range. In the settings, you can adjust the saturation and color temperature.

For the smartphone, peak brightness is claimed at the level of 3200 nits, but it is achieved only on a small area of the screen while displaying HDR content. Under normal conditions, you can count on a maximum of 1400 nits in automatic adjustment mode and 700 nits in manual operation.

The only important drawback of the screen can be considered the lack of LTPO technology, which is why the refresh rate is only 60 or 120 Hz. There are three features in the settings to improve the video playback: HDR effect, MEMC (smoothness improvement by generating additional frames) and resolution increase.

No useless cameras. Almost

The main camera of the POCO X7 Pro is represented by a 50-megapixel Sony LTY-600 (aka IMX882) sensor with a fast lens with f/1.5 aperture and optical stabilization (OIS) system. The second rear camera is an 8 MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle camera without autofocus. The screen has a built-in front camera with a resolution of 20 megapixels (f/2.2).

POCO X7 Pro Review

The main camera copes well in good lighting conditions: the pictures are detailed, moderately saturated, with a wide dynamic range. At 2x zoom, there is almost no loss of quality. You can even take great macro photos in this mode. There is also a function for shooting moving objects. But often in the images you can see chromatic aberration – a colored border around objects.

Due to the large aperture indoors and at night, the main camera also takes great pictures with good detail, rich colors and a minimum of noise. But the POCO X7 Pro has such a feature: during shooting, the picture on the screen is too overexposed, and in the final photos, the bright areas are worked out well.

As for the ultra-wide-angle camera, you should use it only in extreme cases, when you really need to capture a lot of information in the frame. Pictures from it are cloudy and low-detailed, even in good lighting.

The main camera can record video in 4K resolution at 60 fps. Ultra-wide angle and front-angle are limited to 1080p at 30 fps. During shooting, you can only switch between cameras when you select 1080p resolution.

The quality of the videos is average, with not the most effective stabilization and limited dynamic range.

Suitable even for gaming

This is the first smartphone outside of China based on the new MediaTek Dimensity 8400 processor, also in the Ultra modification. Like the flagship 9000 series chips, it uses eight powerful Cortex-A725 cores operating at different frequencies. To prevent overheating, there is a 5000 mm² stainless steel evaporation chamber.

In AnTuTu, the device scores an average of 1.5 million points, and in Geekbench – 1650 and 6500 points in single-core and multi-core modes. Its closest competitors are devices based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

In Genshin Impact, at maximum settings, the POCO X7 Pro produces an average of 57.26 fps with drops of up to about 40 fps during a long game. For comparison, the Redmi Turbo 3 powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 averages 53.6 fps. To play Alien: Isolation comfortably, you have to significantly reduce the settings.

The smartphone comes with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, it claims 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches.

Excellent autonomy and fast charging

A silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 6000 mAh is responsible for the autonomy of the POCO X7 Pro. In standby mode, the smartphone is discharged by about 5% in 12 hours. In 20 minutes in Genshin Impact at maximum settings, it loses 9% of the charge, in PUBG Mobile – 5%. For half an hour of watching a video on TikTok, it consumes 3%, and watching 1080p videos on full screen in 30 minutes takes 4%.

The bundled 90W adapter charges the smartphone from 0 to 38% in 10 minutes, and it takes about 40 minutes to fully charge.

Instead of results

The POCO X7 Pro is aimed at those who value performance and autonomy at a low price. At the same time, you need to be prepared for compromises such as the lack of a memory card slot, average quality cameras or slow USB. But there is IP68 protection, which is not so common in devices in this price range.
